Rebuilding Together is a national organization that was formed in 1988 as Christmas in April, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. The national office assists the many local branches with planning and developing volunteer services across the nation.
Rebuilding Together Bisbee/Naco, the smallest community to join the national organization, started in 1998 when a group of people saw that many of their neighbors needed help with the upkeep on their homes. Over the years, volunteers have helped others in the community by coming together one day a year to work on homes. Following the old barn-raising idea, the organization has helped supply hot water, electricity, and indoor plumbing as well as provided major cleanup, painting, and repair work to several houses each year for the last nine years.
